Frequently asked questions

Questions? We've got answers.

Everything you need to know about temporary addresses, messages, domains and using Vanish safely.

What is a temporary email address?
A temporary email address is an email address intended for short-term use. It can be useful when you need to receive a message without giving a website your primary email address.

Temporary email addresses are not intended to replace a permanent personal mailbox.

Do I need to create an account?
No traditional account registration is required to create a temporary address through Vanish.
How long does a temporary address last?
Temporary addresses are intended for short-lived use. Availability and retention are controlled by the underlying Mail.tm service, so Vanish does not guarantee a specific lifetime for an address or its messages.
Can I choose my email address?
Vanish allows you to enter a custom prefix and choose from available domains. The requested address must be available through the underlying Mail.tm service.
Why haven't I received my email?
There can be several reasons. The sender may not have sent the message yet, delivery may be delayed, or the sending service may reject temporary email domains.

Try using the Refresh button and check that the sender has the correct temporary address.

Can I use Vanish for password recovery?
We strongly recommend against it.

Temporary addresses may stop being available and messages may not remain accessible. Never use a temporary address for an account that you may need to recover later.

Is Vanish completely anonymous?
Vanish does not require traditional account registration, but we don't describe the service as completely anonymous.

Website infrastructure and third-party services may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, logs, or cookie-related information. See our Privacy Policy for more information.

Is Vanish free?
Yes. Vanish is currently available as a free service. The website may be supported through advertising.
What should I not use Vanish for?
Avoid using temporary email for banking, financial services, important accounts, password recovery, medical information, legal correspondence, or anything you need to retain permanently.
Who provides the email infrastructure?
Vanish uses the Mail.tm API for temporary email functionality. Vanish provides the user-facing interface, while Mail.tm provides the underlying email infrastructure.
